Get the CHIP

Get the CHIP

Hello, my friends. I am delighted you are here. If you've been watching my videos for very long at all, you get a sense of who I am and how I communicate. But I'm going to give you a little bit of an inside scoop about what it's like to work with me, whether I'm serving as your coach, the facilitator of a leadership development program in your organization, or possibly as a speaker at a conference or meeting you are attending. I grew up in South Boston, Massachusetts and, as in many communities around the world, just about all the young men and women growing up in that community … [Read more...]

Why Optimism Leads to Opportunity

Why Optimism Leads to Opportunity

Hello, my friends. Today, I want to talk to you about two words that sound similar. They don't mean the same thing, but they go together like peanut butter and jelly. What are those words? Opportunistic and Optimistic Now opportunistic, that's someone who takes advantage of opportunities that come their way. And optimistic, that's someone who looks on the bright side - the glass is half full. You know what the two words mean. But have you ever thought about the connection between those two words? I have not really thought about it until recently, when I was just reflecting upon … [Read more...]

Are You Limiting Your Capabilities?

Are You Limiting Your Capabilities?

Hello, my friends. This week, I have a question for you: Do you remember your first time? Well? Do you remember your first time? Of course, it begs the question, “The first time for what, Ed?” Regardless of where your mind went, you probably do remember the first time for something significant in your life. As an executive coach, I've talked to large groups, small groups, and individuals about getting outside their comfort zone. And the point is…the growth in your personal or professional life does not happen within the constraints, within the confines of what you believe your current … [Read more...]

A Lesson I Learned About Social Media

Hello, my friends. (This week I wanted to remind everyone again about the importance of having proper social media protocol. If you haven't read or watched this previously posted video blog, I encourage you to do so.) This lesson comes on the heels of a somewhat disturbing experience I had with our "friends" at Facebook. I received a private message from someone saying there was an alternative profile that didn't use my name but was using a bunch of my photos. And they gave me a link. I looked at the link, and, sure enough, this person (I have no idea of who they are or where they … [Read more...]

How Are Your Relationships?

How Arre Your Relationships?

Hello, my friend. This week, I want to talk to you about a very important word - to me and to you as well – and that word is “authenticity”. Authenticity is key to personal relationships, professional relationships, and to your relationship with yourself. You have to be the real deal. It doesn't mean you have to be one way or another, but don't pretend to be one way when you are actually another way. I recently was sent a link by someone that I've worked with to a t-shirt that I really love. He sent a very nice email, basically saying, “Ed, when I saw this, I thought of you because … [Read more...]
